"If you believe it's time to put principles above parties, character above campaign promises, and Common Sense above all -- then I ask you to read this book...."

In any era, great Americans inspire us to reach our full potential. They know with conviction what they believe within themselves. They understand that all actions have consequences. And they find commonsense solutions to the nation's problems.

One such American, Thomas Paine, was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future -- and, ultimately, her freedom.

Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance. And now, Glenn Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country.

 "Give it a chance!" 2009-07-19

Much better than I expected. I really hate reading, one of those who likes illustrated instructions, much less a book about politics. But I couldnt put this book down. I dont see why some poeple bash Glenn for having an opinion, one that I might add would probably do better in making this a better county that what any policy the obamanation could ram down our throats. Highly reccomend reading, even if you thing the author is aweful, give the book a chance!

"Glenn Beck's Fabricated & Sensationalised Manual Missing Common Sense" 2009-07-19
By Dildo Baggins (Vancouver)
This book is filled with absolute falacies, untruth's & misdirections. Things are taken out of context, figures are out right made up.

For someone who claims to love his country, he sure has a lot of hate for more liberal minded people, who obviously outnumber Republicans. This is a man who praised George W Bush all the time, but doesn't realize that he had his 8 years, he got us into the mess we're in, & the people demanded a change. You lost Glenn, time to move on.

It's also amazing to me how many lies & untruths there are in this book, when one can easily hop onto Google & check out just how distorted or outright wrong his statements are.

It's irritating how he continues to bring religion into the equation, apparently missing the, er, COMMON SENSE, that our country was born from religous freedom: a seperation of church & state. If he wanted to do a religious book, he should have done one. If he wanted to do a political book, he should have done one. Both topics shouldn't be included together interwoven. They should be seperate when talking about government & politics: as our forefathers wanted it.

If you're looking for sensationalised ultra-conservative talking points, then here is your manual. If you're looking for actual common sense, go elsewhere.

 "A real page turner!" 2009-07-18
By Mary L. Ballard (St. Petersburg, FL USA)
Glenn Beck's book Common Sense is a real wake up call. Not a

summer read for sunshine soldiers but for those who love their

country and fellow countrymen. In my opinion Glenn Beck walks

in lock step with our founding fathers.

If you'd like to know what the founding principles of this country truly are and how we've gotten into this mess and, more importantly, how we can get out of our current predicament, you need to read this book!

"Glenn Beck & common sense in the same sentance?" 2009-07-18

What does this book have to do with Thomas Paine? The guy must be spinning in his grave.

Just another excuse to rant on about the neo-con political view. If Beck had a brain he'd be dangerous, but as it is he's an idiot and who cares what he thinks.

Please take the time to read Thomas Paine again if for no other reason than to remind yourself that he sure wouldn't want guys like Beck interpreting his work.
