This is a beautiful backpack. It is quality to the core. The stitching is finished inside and out. The zippers are heavy duty. The padding is thick and soft on the shoulders and the back. There are compartments everywhere for the laptop, the IPod, water bottles and anything else you can think of. There is one large outer pocket that is open on top , tied down with straps, that is useful if you want to place something within easy access. The smaller outer compartment has pockets for pens and calculators or other knickknacks. There's even a pocket on the strap for a cell phone.
It is a hefty size even when empty, but my 8 year-old son fell in love with it. He carried it full of gear when we were on a trip all the way through several large airports and he didn't complain. I've tried it myself and it is quite comfortable. The straps adjust easily and the padding is well-placed. It's the perfect backpack!

I've had this backpack almost every day for two years, and it has yet to show signs of wear and tear. I'm a college student, so it definitely gets thrown around. BUY IT. It fits my massive laptop. It handles heavy wear. None of the plastic grips/handles have broken.
A few months ago, I tried on someone else's backpack. It was off again in less than five minutes. I couldn't believe that people actually use other backpacks - they HURT! This backpack cushions its own weight, has nice pads on the inside back so that it doesn't lean right up against your back... It was made for perfection.
If I could change one thing, it would be to add hip straps - you know, the kind that clip around your hip bones, to provide a little more support. But that's because I often have 35+ pounds in the bag. (You can never have too much support in that situation, haha.)
The only two things that HAVE broken are:
1. The shoulder straps have elastic on them, which really helps carry the weight of the backpack. A two inch portion of stitching came undone a few months after I had the backpack. I sewed it back together, and it hasn't caused problems since then.
2. At the bottom of a shoulder strap, there's one of those circle plastic hooky things. (I have no idea what to call them.) Anyway, a small part of the thin plastic broke after two years of rough use. It doesn't affect functionality.
I would absolutely recommend this bag to anyone.

I have owned this backpack for 1 year now (red version). I bought it to carry heavy school books and my 15.4" Dell laptop, which fit just fine.
Pros:
- Strong, durable construction.
- multiple pockets to hold everything imaginable.
- side pocket mesh holds my water bottle.
- Top pocket is small and perfect for a wallet.
Cons:
- Heavy. I'm a 5'1 woman and this backpack can be incredibly heavy. It feels bulky even when nothing's in it.
(Wenger website says it weighs 4 lbs. 3 oz. empty) [...]
- The mesh padding on the bottom of the back literally "pills" my t-shirts! What do I mean by that? Well, the padding is made of a mesh fabric that has numerous "breathable" holes. However, as the bottom part of the mesh constantly rubs against the back of your shirt, it starts to wear away the cotton, and it pills into little lint bumps! It took me months to find out it was the backpack that was RUINING my cotton shirts! My shirts where the bottom backpack touches look like an old, lint sock!
If I could, I'd return this but it's too late now.
Do yourself a favor and walk into a store and actually try these laptop backpacks on yourself to see if they fit you. Some are much too large for certain body frames.
And DON'T buy this one if you don't want your shirts looking haggard!

I am returning this backpack because the padding on the back is uncomfortable against my back. Other than that problem this is a great backpack. Lots of pockets and very roomy.

My husband chose this bag for his work computer. It was a gift, and he loves it. It seems very durable and spacious but not overly bulky.
