"I LOVE Crumpler bags BUT....." 2009-08-14
By C. Marino (TN)
When I ordered this bag online I thought this would be the last camera bag I'd ever buy. Unfortunately I am going to put it on eBay and go with a Lowepro bag.

The reason for this is because although the bag is large, my camera (Canon 5D Mark II) doesn't even fit in it! The compartment for equipment is SO small and it's really awkward to get to. This bag is more for point and shoot cameras with a couple of extra batteries.

The upside is...it's a Crumpler! It's built really well and it does hold a laptop securely and well protected. If you don't have a "large" camera and a lot of accessories then this is definitely the bag for you!

"Well made but on the heavy side" 2009-04-12
By S. Fung (Daly City, CA United States)
The bag is well made with very good and sturdy material, which is also the down side of this bag. It's quite heavy. I used it to carry a Canon 20D and EF24-70mm lens. My shoulder and back are tired after a few hours of walk when I was traveling to Japan. Imagine I had to do the same for a few days. It was no fun.

"Best bag I could find" 2009-02-04
By Alastair Battson (Newton-Boston, MA. USA. from England originally)
Looked into a bag that would allow me to take my Nikon D80 and 3 lens aswell as my laptop and other bits on a flight as one. This suited the task perfectly. It is rather expensive but I liked the design and look so much I forked out for it any way. its very cool and different, although increasing less so as Crumpler gets popular. I got the khaki Orange one. It holds all I need it too and more. It is very well made too. I have no real quarms with it after 6 month. I have a couple of design improvements I can think of though. The tab/flap that holds the laptop in is way too long, I know its long for security but getting the laptop out at the airport is tough, especially if you have stuff in the compartment area infront of it. I also now wish it had the ability to either detach the laptop section when i arrive on vacation or that the camera area detached so i don't have to cart the big bag everywhere. Its is a barge like it says. But there is no bag like that on the market. So i still have to flatten my slingshot and cart that in the suitcase for just the camera on vacation. But overall a great bag. If your unsure also check out the Lowepro Fastpacks for better laptop access

 "Feeling "ripped-off"!" 2008-10-13
By K. Sebastian (Doha, Qatar)
I had really high expectations from this bag and from Crumpler. I still use a Crumpler Messenger bag purchased 3 years ago (from Aus.) and it's still as good as new.

Never thought twice before spending US $190 on this bag. Money was no issue and as I was very confident about the Crumpler design, quality and style. I couldn't locate a Crumpler store here in the Middle East so I decided to get it on Amazon. But it has turned out to be a major disappointment.

Within the first 5 mins of use, the black nylon strap separated from the padded part of the left shoulder strap. The stitching came off. The bag was nearly empty (just my Pentax SLR) and I had used it for approx 5 mins (1 min before getting into the car, and 4 mins after getting out and riding an elevator). The strap just failed (embarassing public moment). At first I refused to accept it, refused to believe. I thought it was just some buckle strap that must've come undone and could be put back easily. Slowly realisation dawned, the stitching had come off. No way I could repair it without some heavy duty sewing equipment. What was even more shocking was the other strap looked like it would come of easily (frayed stiches). Apalling! I would never in my dreams expect this even from a $10 bag. No Way.

Since I had this mailed to me overseas (shipped to my NY address and then spent a lot of money having it forwarded overseas to the middle east where I work). I cannot send it back without spending a lot of money. I could buy another bag for that amount. And that's exactly what I did. Just ordered a KATA DR-467 for $66.

I still can't figure out how Crumpler who sell products for about 400% the price of their competition could let a defective product slip through. All in all, I'm very disappointed.

BTW, this is a beautifully designed but poorly engineered product. Also, be warned that the bag itslef is huge and weighs a lot (approx 3Lbs??) Well, my laptop weighs less than that LOL! This bag will eat into your cabin luggage allowance. Since its huge you'd have to stuff into the overhead baggage compartment, thus risking damage to your delicate camera equipment.

 "Perfect Bag for Everything" 2008-06-05
By Amanda
I bought this camera for a trip to China last summer because I needed a bag to carry my DSLR, lenses and a laptop. It was the perfect travel bag for me. I used this as a carry-on, and while it is quite large, it made it for me.

I am also a college student, and this is a great bag for carrying everything I need for the day. This backpack has a ton of dividers, and they all velcro so you can rearrange and make it your own.

This is a sturdy bag, and I really like the straps and backing. When you are putting a DSLR, lenses, laptop, charger, batteries, and everything else for a trip, it gets heavy fast, and this was a great bag at distributing the weight. The back has firm but soft padding that helps the bag maintain its shape and it has a slot on the backing that is molded to your spine and makes it much more comfortable.

Overall, I would recommend this for anyone who needs a bag for a trip or a sturdy bag to hold ALL of their gear.

 "great carry on bag" 2009-01-03
By Lisa Pruitt (Spring, Texas USA)
I bought this bag as a carry-on. I wanted to be able to take my SLR on the plane as well as my laptop. I wanted a bag that would allow me to do both while protecting both. Alas, this bag. It did its job. I packed a widescreen HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop with power cord. I packed a little point and shoot digital camera. I packed a Canon Rebel digital SLR with two lenses. I packed misc. items like ipods, a book, a wallet, keys.... I rode on a regional jet. The backpack fit in the overhead compartment with no problems. I did not pack the back to full capacity. As it was I thought the bag was pretty weighty. For my own back's sake I would not have wanted to increase the load although the bag was not at capacity. The bag had no problems carrying this load. I felt condfident that the bag was constructed to carry this weight. After the trip, I did not find any signs of stress wear on the bag. All in all I am extremely happy with this purchase.

"Best Pack I have ever owned." 2008-12-12
By C. M. Miller (USA)
Although Pricy, this is hands down the best pack I have ever owned. With this I am able to carry my 17" Macbook Pro, cords, mouse, a notebook or two, my digital SLR, and 2 additional lenses. Remove the camera and I have enough room to carry a great deal of misc. items.

This pack is tough... the Nylon shell is the thickest I have seen, and although I haven't tried it in monsoon, it does shed water rather well in a light rain. It is comfortable to wear over one shoulder or both. The padding that interfaces with my back (also part of the padding surrounding the Mac) seems at least 1/2" inch thick. and is quite comfortable. As of yet I have not dropped the pack with the Mac inside... but I am confident that from less than a few feet it would be fine. Hopefully I will never need to test this hypothesis.

Overall its a great bag... it does what I need it to do. It looks good, but at the same time it does not yell "Im a Laptop bag, steal me!" Although this would be hard to do these days since I am rarely parted from it.....

"Crumpler? Exactly what I needed!" 2007-06-19
By Richard B. Graves (Sasebo, Japan)
I was in need of a bag to hold my MacbookPro and my Canon Digital Rebel XTi, and I needed one that was all black so I could wear it in uniform while serving in the Navy. This bag being a bit more stylish than normal camera bags/laptop bags didn't hurt either!

Pros:

This bag securely and safely holds my MBP, as well as my DSLR with a 17-85mm lens attached with room for two more lenses in the side pockets of the camera casing. The camera case is removeable from the front pocket holder (and reinsertable with it's two velcro strips), making more room in the bottom for other things if you're not bringing your camera along!

It also has a magazine/book slot in the main pocket, as well as extra room for things such as mouse, power adapters, clothes, etc...

There is an additional pocket in the very front that can hold smaller items such as cell phone, usb adapters, laptop cords, etc.

Some cons I can think of:

1. Crumplers website was a real turn off for me! - [...]-Crazy product names and descriptions! Made me wonder if this was a company I wanted to do business with.(especially after careful price considertion)

Expensive! (That's pretty self explanatory I think)

Colors are sometimes whacked out....I needed a plain black or blue color on the outside of the bag...but did I mention that the interior of the bag is a bright lime green color? I don't understand why they made it that color..it's not horrible it's just...strange!

All in all, I am very impressed with this bag and the quality of crumplers product.
