It is slightly more convenient to go through security and does not require your laptop to be completely exposed in one of those trays that go through the scan. For a frequent flyer it is worth it. Otherwise it's a backpack like any other. I will say that it is a bit too long for me - would be hard to deal with stuffing this under a seat - luckily the only time I've used it so far there was enough room in the overhead.

I fly approximately once a week and am very happy with this pack, as it does everything it is advertised to do. I have received several comments from TSA employees about the "Checkpoint Friendly" markings. Additionally, I have received several inquiries from other travelers when I didn't have to remove my laptop during screening. The laptop compartment must have been designed to fit the largest computer on the market, as it completely swallows my Dell Inspiron. Conversely, the extra space in the non-laptop side has allowed me to carry my extra clothes and toiletries for an overnight trip. However, most of the time the bag is larger than needed for my laptop, accessories, kindle, etc. and thus the four stars instead of five.

It's as advertised and I generally agree with the other reviews, however I don't think the bag was field tested for actually fitting well under the seat in front of you. It's also a bit heavy. If you have a really big laptop and carry a lot extra's with you and and can store it in an overhead - it'll be fine. Otherwise, much it will be empty space and you'll be hard pressed to get under the seat (and you can forget about what little leg room remains). For my needs, I need something more compact as I have a 13" X 10" Lenovo (bag is ~15" x 19") and limited accouterments.

Just used this on a trip for the first time and it worked great. Went through security and didn't have to take my laptop out. Plenty of storage for all my gadgets. Love it!
